Naturally Derived Fungicide Provides Cereal Farmers with First Unique Target Site for Septoria in 15 Years
Corteva Agriscience has received product registration for the first fungicide from the InatreqTM active family of products in the Republic of Ireland.
QuestarTM fungicide with InatreqTM active, is revolutionary chemistry providing cereal growers the first fungicide in 15 years with a unique target site to tackle Septoria.
The Republic of Ireland is the second European country to grant regulatory approval – after France – and the third in the world in cereals.
“Ultimately, this new solution will help control Septoria, the biggest disease affecting wheat yields and of greatest concern to farmers,” said Liz Glynn, National Field Technical Manager for Corteva Agriscience in Ireland.
“Resulting from the innovative work of Corteva Agriscience’s researchers, this new fungicide will meet the challenges of sustainable management and respond to our farmers' desire for innovation to help them better protect their crops."
Questar is a new, naturally derived fungicide that offers market-leading curative and protectant control on all Septoria strains. It represents an important component of a long-term resistance strategy on farms.
First sales will take place ahead of the 2021 growing season with a full programme of launch events and demonstration trials due to take place for farmers and agronomists this year.
“We are excited to demonstrate Questar’s proven quality for delivering robust control of Septoria throughout the season,” Liz added.
“Farmers in Ireland have waited a long time for an innovation as good as this to arrive, and they now have the ability to see it in action and integrate Questar into their disease control programmes for next year.”
The next country registrations for Inatreq products, anticipated within the coming year, will offer new disease control solutions for cereal farmers in the United Kingdom, Germany, Denmark and, subsequently, all relevant European markets.
Inatreq offers outstanding biology performance and its unique target site for Septoria gives farmers a new tool to help manage the disease. It shows no cross-resistance to existing cereal fungicide chemistries. Farmers also will benefit from its flexible application characteristics and consistent, broad-spectrum performance.
